Mark Smith of Japan and Miles of Canada chartered a Sydney 38 yacht from getaway-sailing.com. This sailing adventure took 8 days with only two overnight provision stops at Rosyln and Southport. The boat went like a dream. We had some very exciting winds especially on the night watches. Just as promised we were fortunate enough to be joined by whales and dolphins on many occasions throughout the adventure and you have to see the sunsets down the east coast of Australia to really be able to understand just how wonderful they really are.

With only two us us sailing this trip provided a terrific level of challenge. It knocked us around just enough to know we were living without scaring the pants of us.

Would I do this 1050 NM sailing adventure again? In a heartbeat mate, in a heartbeat. Thank you Getaway-Sailing.

  • Hey Smithy, YT never posted my last comment...so I'm back! Looks like great fun if you enjoy being windy, wet and cold :) How come you didnt didnt stop into BrisVegas for a beer on your way past?? Maybe next time?

  • Didn't notice your comment mate sorry. I stopped at Southport. That is kind of close right.

  • Hey Mark:

Very cool indeed. I'll give it a try next summer. Only the wife says Catamaran in the Bahamas. Not real sailing, but what's a guy to do?

  • You really want me to answer that?

  • Mark,

Looks like you had a great time! I like the music too. Let me know sometime what a trip like that might cost. Keep on sailing!

  • EIGOmanOkamoto, This was a special deal as only two actual sailors whereas this boat would normally sail with maybe 6 or more. However the normal price as a crew member would be around AUD$1,000. Couldn't get 7 nights in a hotel for that price!

  • Very cool video!

Looks like a lot of fun. I especially liked the clips with the dolphins and whale!

By the way, I wonder if there were any "cup noodle" among those provisions...

  • Lamingtons100, 8 days mate. That included 2 overnight stop overs, one in Roslyn (nice quite harbour) and one in Southport. But mostly we just sailed no stop taking turns on the tiller and working together when weather or sails said we had to. Try it out one day. That coast line is fantastic.

  • Cool vid.

How long would that sail take with the wind on the nose?
