Common Destiny 01/1958

Six States decided to join their destinies and create the European Coal and Steel Community (Treaty of Paris 1951). From that moment on, the boundries governing coal and steel were abolished. Institutions were set up to manage this community. The journalists visits each one to understand how they work.

  • interesting video, its seems to suggest that if we are to share a common market and the benefit from this, there must be a common politics (e.g. freedom of movement and welfare).

    I think it assumes too much for the altruism of bearucrats, I think corruption will run rampant, epsecially ifthe government is socialistic in nature(by that I mean coercive and collectivist) and has powers to influence the policies of native goverments. Just look at the federal goverment of the US!
