FFVII - Level 5 Tifa vs Midgar Zolom (NMIENA)

I've seen a couple of low level Midgar Zolom videos here, and now that I'm doing the LLNMIENA Challenge again, I thought I'd record one at the lowest level possible. Since he's too easy with a full party, I decided to do one with only Tifa equipped with her original weapon and armor and without using materia and accessories.

Tifa at level 5 is indeed the lowest level character you can have at this point without cheating. As long as you run away from all random battles and keep her dead at the end of all boss battles she can participate in, she will be at level 5.

However, this battle requires a lot of luck. First of all, you must be able to throw the Deadly Waste before he attacks and that can be very tricky on the highest battle speed. I decided to do it on the highest battle speed to make the video as short as possible. If you turn it down to the slowest, it's very easy. Tifa's ATB bar must be as close to full as possible, but it also depends on how full his ATB bar is. With the ATB as full as possible, I only managed to throw the Deadly Waste before he attacked one out of five times. Instead of throwing the Deadly Waste before he attacks, you can also hope that one of his first two attacks misses. That reduces the amount of luck needed a little bit.

Of course, he must get poisoned too and that only happens about 1 out of 5 times. Yup, we're up to a 1/25 odds now. And even if you manage to poison him, you still have to hope that none of his 19 attacks go critical. That happened to me once before I could record this successful attempt. I needed almost 100 attempts before this successful one.

The reason why he doesn't use Beta is because Beta is a counter attack that is only use under specific conditions. In order for him to use Beta, he must have already stood up AND kicked a character out of the battle. These are also counter attacks, used when you bring his HP below 3000 and 2000, respectively. After doing both, he will counter with Beta once you bring his HP below 1500. Since I just poison him and never touch him again, he doesn't get a chance to use any of these.

Yep, a very luck reliant battle and a very boring video, but the whole point is to prove that it can be done.

Hey garland, just found your vids and you made me take out my old PS1 and FFVII...

I mean, I thought I had already done it all but what the f**k, now I realise I've only done and found like 10% of the stuff the game has to offer :o

Any suggestions for a semi difficult yet reasonable "challenge" to clear the game for someone who spent their youth with these games but never bothered to try any "challenges" like these you are doing?

I'm going to have to call shenanigans on this video because of how fast tifa's time bar fills up. The limit break is only suppose to speed the time up for the next attack alone and none after that. I got to go check this out for myself

If you then additionally cannot figure out how the video is going to end by the 2nd minute or so, you are quite free to congratulate yourselves on your patience for watching it to the end, but attempting to blame Garland for it is just too hapless and negative to be pitiful

Wtf? lvl 5 tifa vs snake my butt. all you did was poison it ;/ though I guess it was worth posting to watch that bad arse snake die a lame death after killing me so many times cause I was to cheap to buy a chocobo.

@LPfreakGirl7 I think it only uses Beta if you attack the Zolom when he has under 1000 HP. Thats why BIO is such a good weapon against him at lower levels, no Beta.
