Nara: Nigatsu-do and Todai-ji Temples (Obon 2009)

The sunset is so beautiful from the balcony of the Nigatsu-do Temple. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Nara. Todai-ji Temple opens the high window so the Great Buddha can look outside only a few times every year. This was one of those rare days. Inside, the children were crawling through a hole in one of the pillars. This is said to give enlightenment in the next life to those who pass through it. It is the size of the Great Buddha's nostril. Please enjoy the video! I hope everyone can visit Nara on their own someday!
