Original air date, April 5, 2011 - CTV's Canada AM
Brilliant partnership Barb Stegemann & Brent Wilson. Your personal strength is the drive behind making a difference in this world. Health and wellness Trevor Green.
@BabeonToast If she was just doing a job and being successful, you are right, good for her. Since she is putting herself and her story to the public to influence their decision to buy. This opens herself to public scrutiny. Her business model, viewpoint and story are good, 3.5 stars... but not great. That is my personal vote.
As Afghan Canadian, I am so emotional, I woud like to thank Madam Barb Stegemann for helping my worn torn country. And more importantly I would like to thank our troops for helping Afghanistan. May god keep all of you guys safe and I hope you guys come home safe....Canadians open their arms for people like me who had no country, I can die for this country and its still not enough to pay for their hospitality... And i am always proud to say I am Canadian... May God keep Canada safe and prosper...
My 1st impressions about WBW's "social entrepreneurship" were different from what I saw in this clip. I thought he sought to do good philanthropy, which provides media coverage (about the charity). Such coverage is apt to translate into positive business outcomes. I had a strong negative rxn. to this clip - I don't like how the philanthropy is DIRECTLY associated with the marketing of the perfume (i.e sold at OWF events). It leads me to re-consider the respect I had developed for him.
What I admire most about Barb is that she did not wait for permission to do something to help people. She was able to begin with 1,000 bottles of perfume and she just started. Her success lies in showing up every day and working hard to do what she can to ensure that demand is high that she can buy more oils from the farmers. This is a great business model.
In a world where war and strife are a reality, it is refreshing to see this brave woman saying economic empowerment, not charity is the way to build peace. She was raised in poverty and from her personal experience is on a mission to empower others. It is particularly wonderful to see a woman out there speaking truth to power. Bravo to her and her work. Her amazing investor's name is Brett. There is no Brad in the story Kevin.
I really like what they are doing... This is a good solution.. I really don't like the girl though.. sorry.. brad as always, big fan. I wish that girl was giving more away to charity. I see a little too much gleam of intentions that aren't all pure.

@kevincolmergmail She's not a girl, she's a WOMAN, and from the looks of it, a smart, caring, and successful one. Good for her.
