Seventh song on New York Tendaberry and the earliest written. It's likely the most accessible song on the album, apparently being one of the two tracks universal enough to be covered (the other being "Save the Country").

So winter froze the river, and winter birds don't sing;
So winter makes you shiver, so time is gonna bring you spring...
So he swears he'll never marry, says that cuddles are a curse;
Just tell him plain, "You're on the next train if our love don't get there first..."

Time and love, everybody, time and love (oh, time and love!)
Nothing cures like time and love...
Don't let the Devil fool you - here comes a dove;
Nothing cures like time and love...
For the man if you please, if you think, and if you can...

So winter froze the river, and winter birds don't sing;
So winter makes you shiver, so time is gonna bring you spring...
You've been running, you've been rambling, and you don't know what to do
A holy golden wager says that love will see you through...

Time and love, everybody, time and love (oh, time and love!)
Nothing cures like time and love...
Don't let the Devil fool you - here comes a dove;
Nothing cures like time and love...
For the man if you please, if you think, and if you can...
(Love for the man if you please...)

So Jesus was an angel, and mankind broke His wing,
But Jesus gave His lifeline so sacred bells could sing...
Now, a woman is a fighter, gathered white or African;
A woman is a woman inside, has miracles for her man at night...

Time and love, everybody, time and love (oh, time and love!)
Nothing cures like time and love...
Don't let the Devil fool you - here comes a dove;
Nothing cures like time and love...
For the man if you please, if you think, and if you can...

(Love for the man, if you please, if you think and if you can...)
Love for the man, if you please, if you think, and if you can... (Love for the man if you please...)
Daytime, and the nighttime, daytime, and the nighttime...

  • Nobody had the entire package like Laura Nyro. She was the queen of the beat changer in most of her songs. It's just not fair she died so young at 49.

  • One of the most underrated people of her generation.. This brings back so many teenaged memories

  • my favorite song write of all time. that includes burt and carole.

  • Her voice and the images Laura conjured up for me still shimmer ... just as her songs did in 1968 when I first discovered real music. There are a few vocalist-writers that have come close and delighted me. But no-one I can find quite captures Laura's unmistakable soft-as-a-baby's-breath to thunderclap sincerity. And the Lady had a set of pipes ... !!!

  • Laura saved my life and feeds my spirit. No drama there, just the truth. that's all i really need from my art, folks!!

  • It's a CRYING SHAME no one writes songs in this bouyantly exuberant, soulful, fancy free manner anymore. A true artist, Nyro kept herself away from true fame and exposure on purpose. So many people I run into, when rtlling off her hits, respond with "Wow, they all came from HER? Why have I never heard of her?"

  • AMEN Aquamoon22!

  • Pass Go and Go to Heaven!!!

  • She told it & sang it like it was! No "B.S." from this girl.

  • @is1531 When I heard her sing, so long ago now ( 1970 ?? ) I thought what is this... a wild woman gone wild.

    Dynamic is what. To-day, I can't help but tear up when I hear songs like this. OMG - maybe genius isn't too strong a label.... songbird ? memorable ? Oh hell, fantastic singer

  • @KillAllCellPhones ABSOLUTELY -- I rate ONLY Carole King (who was more prolific) as a greater American female songwriter -- and Laura had more soul than either Joni or Carole -- I just turned on young Austin jazz-soul singer Tameca Jones to Laura's music -- SHE HAD NEVER HEARD OF HER!!??? WTF IS WRONG WITH OUR EDUCATION SYSTEM ANYWAY?????

  • Strange, I hear Carole King meets Amy Winehouse. So much talent and musical instinct! Gone too soon.
