Labor Day 2011 Marlborough, Massachusetts, USA was well attended. Gladys brought her union-labelled bag (AFL-CIO), but youth and cultural groups and politicians and candidates rather than labor unions dominated the presence. A United States Congressman and a United States Senator showed up, as well as the city's mayor and his challenger, as well as a couple of candidates for councilor-at-large. I saw no big banners for AFL-CIO, AFSCME, UNITE HERE or SEIU. The weather wavered from sunny and pleasant to breezy and cloudy/shady. Free bottled water and restroom units were provided. Tolerance was given to carrying beer poured into plastic cups.
