This was taken 2 years ago, they've improved since then. Only way you can get better live is through practice, and that's what they've been doing.

I saw them play an acoustic set live and she did an incredible job vocally. They played this song too.

They're too young and (still) too amateurish to perform their ambitious material. To pull off complicated, multi-layered rocksong like "The Promise" or "Moving to Seatlle" live you need musicianship, experience and good technicians. Bands like Queensryche or The Foo Fighters do it, The Material don't do it (yet).
