@chickenwretch I don't know where you got "benevolence of the government" crap from I'm just being realistic. The gov isn't going legalize pot out of charity, they'll only do so if they can generate some revenue. They already tax cigarettes and alcohol and they use that money to regulate and quality control the industry. There is no regulation of the drug trade.

Legal stores could only maintain a monoply by offering better quality weed cheaper, otherise the blackmarket would continue.

Point is, if it's so natural, green, and organically wholesome, no entity should have any financial claim other than the user and the seller. Inviting Big Brother into private inner circles does indeed smack of fascism; consenting adults need the blessing of government concerning their personal buzz? Legal stores keep the price lower than the street now but if monopolized, wave bye to cheaper high.

No it's cheaper because it's legal. Even taxed pot is cheaper then illegal pot because it's not controlled by drug dealers. It's pointless to sell it exactly the same amount or higher then what its sold for on the blackmarket. The whole point is to undercut the dealers and squeeze them out of the drug trade. I thought that was obvious.
