This is the level 1 game from the preversion of the yet unfinished super hi specced MSX game X-Tazy, now recorded in high quality. It's running on an (emulated) MSXturboR with GFX9000, Moonsound and Sunrise IDE. It gives an impression of what the game is supposed to become.
Here is part of the accompanying text, written by one of the developers of Abyss, AndreKüpfer:
In the X-Level1 directory you will find the playable version of the crystal stag
e. Just run the LOADER.COM program and the game will start. This level is not finished. The boss is missing and the sprites get boring in the game. Many more sprites were planed but not finished or integrated.
Nevertheless, this is a playable level, which gives a quite good impression of the game.
What a disappointment this turned out to be, after all the cool demos and videos of this game the makers just cancelled it! I'm aware that X-Tazy went open source, but like most things that go open source I severely doubt anyone is going to pick it up and finish it, it's been 4 years and so far nobody, I repeat, nobody has even touched this thing! It's a real shame because this looked like such a promising game.
