"The rich have the right to buy more gizmos but they don't have the right to buy democracy." -Bill Moyers
In a thought-provoking speech, acclaimed broadcaster Bill Moyers delivered the first Tom Johnson Lecture at the LBJ Library. Although Moyers decries the inherent conflicts in the current political system that maintain the divide between the wealthy and what he calls 'the common run of mankind,' Moyers builds a compelling case about why Americans should be optimistic about the future. Please enjoy Mr. Moyer's brilliant presentation.
Tom Johnson is one of the most decent, kind, and generous men I've ever had the honor to meet. He is a 'national treasure'. God bless you Tom.

I heard your talk in Houston after this speech and your message still rings true, we are in deep poo poo and I hope we can find a way out. Looking forward to your return to PBS, you have been missed and keep hope alive. Dale Hopson

Dear Bill Moyers,
One more time your words reached inside my body and wrung my heart out, at a point of giving up on our government and our leaders.
You teach by example, never giving up, until you are physically incapable of fighting greed, cruelty, selfishness, and lack of respect for others. I guess if you aren't throwing in the towel after all these years neither can I.
Sincerely, Chris Jonsson, Dallas, TX
