A man severely beaten stumbled out of the woods of D.W. Field Park this morning onto Elmwood Street and is now at a Boston hospital with critical injuries.
The man, believed to be in his 30s, was found at 6:45 a.m. this morning outside 67 Elmwood Ave., said Brockton Police Sgt. Mark Celia.
The man suffered serious head injuries and was first taken to Caritas Good Samaritan Hospital then to a Boston hospital, he said.
Officers, with the help of Officer John Sturdevant and his dog, Mason, were able to find the spot behind a bowling alley where the man appears to have been beaten in the woods, he said.
Officers were at the scene this morning, searching for evidence. There were several chairs and what appeared to be a makeshift stove in the spot just off a path in the woods.
