@itsmycontact People like you are a curse to India. people like you just do your job, make money, fuck your wife, make children, die. You contribute nothing to the community that you live in. People like you actually benefit from the social changes that people like Kamal have helped make. MOron. DEMOCRACY IS NOT A SPECTATOR SPORT. PARTICIPATE. And to not curse that actually are doing something.

very good speaking by kamal hassan. we are all wrong. kamal hassan is right !
he is the true super human ! we do have a god in atheism and his name is kamal !
-
So u show humanism by dumping your wife! charity starts at home.... these guys give long speech but cant find a single issue behind their back... First show credits for the scenes you rip from other english movies... and show humanism!
-
he is more of attention seeker.... can u show some humanity to heroines pairing with!
-
Oh if humanism is so important... cant he show something to the heroines he is pairing with not just as sex and kiss machines! Dont they deserve some humanism... mr Crationalist!
-
V already have rituals and tradition of our own...instead of blindly following it ...first help and do good things to people who u r seeing ....Afterall Life is a short period between birth and death (Some greatman told this) ..in this lull be a human first and then follow rituals and religion...always Kamal is great

He is suggesting that Christians have accepted Evolution and Hindus have somehow not. Are you f***ing kidding me! Has he ever talked to an Evangelist or been in America. And he i talking bad about a culture/religion which has spoken about evolution for thousands of years. Our whole Avatar system is based on it.And he is talking about the whole world going towards rationalism. Does he see/read/hear the news around the World? He is great actor and I think he should limit himself to it.

Everybody believes in something. He is talking about cave men as if he sat next to them and saw them evolving. After all he is believing the Scientists. If he is so rational as he boasts, then he shouldn't be referring to some European Scientists. He should have himself done the research and then prove what his points. I don't know how come he or any of his 'Rational' friends have usurped 'humanism' as if none of the religions have. And he is also undermining Hindus.

I partly agree with you. But no person who is rational can be ever brainwashed into any belief system.. But you know after all this protest made by Dravidian movements, little has been changed in the social structure of Tamilnadu... Casteism still exists ....
I would just like to point out that this is not a place for petty religious debates. The message here is that of humanism - values we all share. The fact that it is coming from Kamal Haasan is rather irrelevant. If anything it just shows that you don't need to belong to any religion in order to be a good human being, just like how many religious people appreciate humanistic values. But to nitpick here and point out how he attacks one religion and not another is totally missing the point.

Is there any info about when he made this speech and where and on what occasion? Are there other videos that show the full speech?

@donatelloyt This speech, I gather, is from his 56th Birthday celebration. The full video mainly addresses his fans and is mostly about films. I edited out the portion where he talks about rationalism. Anyways you can view Part 1 of the full video here
