You see, the loss of oil will not go instantaneously. Like in the graph of peak oil presented in this movie, it will take 40-50 years before all the oil is gone. Do you think our life is gonna sit idle and do nothing while that happens? First there will be wars for oil, second there will be research for alternatives, third they will create mass alternatives (primary solar, but also nuclear wind and sea energy can with current technology provide for about 50% of our current energy needs).

I think this movie is grossly underestimating life's capability's to life in different environments... Truth to be told, the war of resources is as old as life (ea, tigers scarying elephants away from water in times of draught in africa). It is life's nature to protect and/or conquer resources. During the decline of oil production, we will either adept or face great wars until all has settled down and humanity will probably go back to living in small camps. This all is fine, why so serious?

@RectulThreat We then found out that carbon dioxide has never been this high as far back as we can check. wiki carbon dioxide to see a graph showing the increase to carbon dioxide which has been measured to directly correspond to the amount of carbon dioxide that is being put into the atmosphere. Unfortunatly this is really happening and we can set it now right before your eyes just go to greenland

@RectulThreat Al gore is a money grubbing douche however unfortunately he is right. The long carbon cycle is very good at self regulating meaning the carbon dioxide produced naturally is of set by organisms and plant life that absorb it isn't perfect so every few hundred thousand years we get hotter and colder climates. The neat thing about carbon dioxide is we can measure how it is now to how it has been for the last few hundred thousand years by air pockets in the polar ice.

Wow, this video made me extremely depressed. I think I need to go lay down now, and take a nap.

Well, this is all very true.. if nothing else it is obvious as can be. There are too many people and the idea of "infinite growth" is absurd. This does not mean falling back to the stone age, we have technology, we have innovation, we have created a lot of great things and learned how to be more productive. What it DOES mean is that everything needs to be reevaluated. "getting by is good enough" needs to be the anthem. No more throw away culture. But we're gonna have much fewer people.

Really good and terrifying stuff. For once it isn't couched in biblical stuff at all.

"Build an Arc?" "Find a New Land?" Sorry, but their not MAKIN' land anymore, and all the land in existence is already claimed by those with plenty money. The glimmer of 'hope' at the end of this video is unwarranted, imho.
