This is a short clip made with a digital camera Sony Cyber-shot P10 of an arriving train at Holborn Station, Piccadilly Line Eastbound on the 19th June 2005. I particularly like the first few seconds of the dark tunnel, when you can just hear the noise of the train and see the headlights getting closer.

  • The "Eastbound / Northbound" debate regarding the Piccadilly Line has been going on for years - London Transport, later London Underground Limited, insist on "Eastbound" - which is technically stupid. Cockfosters is the second most Northerly station on the network (Epping on the Central Line being the first) - despite this, it is only about 12 miles East of Rayners Lane, the original "Westbound" terminus of the line. Maybe "Westbound" (Uxbridge) "Northbound" (Cockfosters) would be correct...

  • @lgu954k

hi lgu954k! i have to admit your comment was very informative! i truly did not know that my mistake was actually part of a long debate! it does make sense too, as i got so used to refer to places according to the postal code and saying northbound/southbound makes way more sense for the piccadilly line! anyway... thanks!

  • Hey, how's it going? I don't suppose there's any chance you could email me this video as it would really help with my uni project?

  • @senojnais

hey senojnais, that would not be a problem at all, if you want to use it on your uni project! just put me in the credits, and i am happy ;-) do you want the original mpg file? i think it is 640x480 so it is a bit better than the current 360p here on youtube. send me your email address and i will give you a link from where you can download it. cheers!

  • I literally have no idea how this clip has got 1/4 million views. What the fuck man, what the fuck. Seriously?

  • @MatSallehBoleh

it's not 250k views yet but probably it will get there... i noticed you have 3 videos of your own, with a bit less than 100 views each. i wish you the best of luck and hopefully people will enjoy your videos! i did not, but hey, it seems we have different tastes, right?

  • You should include the sound from the Liverpool Five's " Piccadilly Line" with this video...it too is on You Tube.

  • I'm at that weird part of Youtube again.

  • i miss england i wanna go back

i remember feeling that strong wind as the tube arrives

  • @lgu954k If it was if Cockfosters was north and trains are departing southbound, that literally means the other end - Uxbridge would be south!

  • Cool video

  • @lgu954k - In Queensland, as a general rule, Up trains run "up the country" and Down trains run "down to the port". The only place where trains leaving in both directions are Up trains is Cairns, in far northern Queensland. In Brisbane, a train can start at Shorncliffe (or Caboolture or Ferny Grove), run through Central and Roma Street and finish up at Ipswich (or Cleveland or Beenleigh) and still be an Up train all the way.

  • @lgu954k @rodrigofquinteiro - In some rail systems, particularly in North America, the terms "Eastbound" and "Westbound" are used the same way other rail systems use the terms "Up" and "Down" - it merely describes the running direction on a particular line, not necessarily referenced to the actual compass direction.

  • wow ! - This is a REALLY LONG Underground-Train...great Video :)
