This is a rather daring live performance of Antonio Carlos Jobim's Insensatez (How Insensitive) in that we'd never rehearsed it. But Haim is so awsome on piano, I knew I could trust him to bring out something wonderful.
It is a sad and beautiful song considered a standard amongst jazz musicians around the world. Nearly all of us include it in our reportoire.
I wondered somewhere after I had started singing if I had chosen the right key. But we were past the point of no return once that thought had occured to me. I don't think I've ever heard it sung this high, but I kinda like the way it came out. I hope you enjoy it.
In any case we both had a ball at this Broadway Cabaret performance in the spring of 2007 hosted by Billy Shepard and Judy Jourdan at Dillons.
