Sheffield 25-10-09 Final. The Final was designated as the Brisca Supreme, and a race that Wainman Jnr really needed to apply the pressure on a very much "on-form" Stuart Smith Jnr. With the Shoot-Out entrants at the back of the grid, it was to be a dominant display of Stock Car Racing from Paul Hines. Hines clearly the fastest man on track, and using the front bumper to great effect on his charge to the front, and again fighting to keep his position. Wainman Jnr failed to do what many expected him to do, dumping Smith Jnr into the wires, but Smith Jnr didn't, and dropped Wainman Jnr onto a fence post with a couple of laps left to run. Hines was to run wide challenging Blue Top Mark Woodhull coming out of turn4, allowing the Smith Bros. through into the lead positions. Hines tries desperately to take back the lead, but is put wide by Mark Gilbank, ending any chances of the win. With the last lap board out, Smith Jnr not wanting to settle for second, fires leader Woodhull out of contention. Unfortunately for Smith Jnr, he clips Woodhull's rear as he passes, handing the lead to brother Andrew. Still determined to take the win, Stuart tries a do-or-die lunge on Andrew going into turn3, but luckily for Andrew, Stuart was just a little too far back to pull it off.

This was Brisca Stock Car Racing at its best !!!

  • really cant beleive i missed this meeting, looked like a classic sheffield, so little car turnouts the last few years has put me off, but........

  • Same here. Haven't done a Sheffield since the 2007 Semi. Hadn't originally planned to do this one, but i'm glad I did.

  • Top race,great filming,too bad for Frank,but Stuart was on a mission,going for silver i think :-)

  • Stuart's definately going for Silver. Many were expecting Frankie to dump SSJ into wires, but it was Frankie who went in ! SSJ really is at the top of the game at the moment. Shame he spun out of the World... I think he would have had the Gold off Andrew.

  • thought stoke was gone!

  • I think the Old 'Down-tube' car might need to be resurected. Its so bent and buckled, it needs a roughy and bumpy track to be of any use. With Stoke looking likely to be back on the fixture list next year, that car could have a future, LOL. Lets hope that FWJ's new car can see him go Bumper-to-Bumper with Team Smith more often. That should keep us fans on our toes !!!

  • That's true, you can't win 'em all i guess,i've read the shale car is sold, maybe time too resurect that infamous "downbar-car" that's in the jard :-) Grtz

  • @godneededadriver never seen frank have such a poor season...rollover's, mechanical problems etc, an lund had a better season this year, final and dash for cash at the last coventry amongst others

  • @BriscaF1StockCarFan good choice pal, im done till next year now!

  • My thoughts exactly, must say that Andy is flying on shale all season too, don't know why but FWJ is a bit "off-edge" when it comes down to winning this season,a lot of fast young ones as well makes it a bit harder i think
