A walk down the south side of Hill 3347(see companion video "walking uphill | Lava Mts | San Bernardino Co, CA | 2/2/2008") located in section 25, Township 29 south, Range 41 east, Mount Diablo meridian and baseline (35 deg 23 min 01 sec N / 117 deg 32 min 13 sec W) in the northwestern corner of San Bernardino County, California, United States of America on 2 February 2008 in a part of the Golden Valley Wilderness Area. Along the descending ridge are weathered boulders (and other size materials) of either the Lava Mountain Andesite (a plagioclase porphyry) or a part of the western facies of the Almond Mountain volcanics (mostly intrusive hydrothermally altered propylite) of Smith (George I. Smith, "Geology and Volcanic Petrology of the Lava Mountains, San Bernardino County, California", 1964, United States Geological Survey Professional Paper 457).
Also featured in this video are
(1) ice-fractured boulders
(2) a stumble and a curse
(3) barrel cactus
(4) creosote bush (Larrea tridentata)
(5) Almond Mountain (again)
(6) a walk through a desert scrub vegetation community and
(7) Jeep is Home.
My apologies for the unsteady camera. One of these days I'll make a video of which I am proud.
