Saturday the 10th of May, at the Wiley Canyon condos we held the second neighborhood residence meeting to present the Smiser ranch development plans. Otherwise known as the Avenue at Santa Clarita Development, it will bring 2.5 million Sq ft of urban density into the backyards of 5 bedroom neighborhoods that will be smothered with 5-8 thousand cars a day in a small geographical area and 2 blocks away from Wiley Canyon Elementary School. When this property is zoned for 1/4 of the proposed development it goes to show the audacity of either the developer or the Used car salesman LOBBYIST (Jeff Lambert) to think they could play these over zoning games just to negotiate back a little to end up 400% over zoning allowances. The residence of Newhall will not let that happen in our area.

This is a practice that will not be tolerated in out town anymore.

Santa Clarita fighting property development.

The old Smiser Mule ranch is facing a proposed development of 2,500,000 sf on a 30 acre property adjoining 8 quiet bedroom communities in the town of Newhall California. (within Santa Clarita Valley)

Fighting property development when it's over sized to the point of neighborhood wrecking, then citizens need to stand up and join together and demand a better project. Not doing so would ensure the precedence for developers to take advantage of local communities who have payed their dues for a beautiful place to live.
