Here's a review on 3 cheap lasers from eBay I picked up. I was curious to see what they did at just over $20 each. They have a much narrower dispersion pattern (maybe 60%) compared to the American DJ or Chauvet mini lasers, but considering they are a fifth of the price, they aren't bad. The other thing worth mentioning is that there is only one effect (this one is my favorite anyway) and Red only; no Green. Apparently there are models with both colors, but I didn't realize this when I was shopping. My only criteria was price.
The one from eBay seller TomTop is the only unit worth metioning, It's got the brightest dots. The other two fixtures might get drowned out by other light sources if you have another lighting effect going on (like a wash). I think it might be a cool effect if you have this running on a chaser and you have a black out with just these on.
All in all, I spent $70 on these units and I feel that I got my moneys worth. It's still $30 cheaper than the name brand stuff, and with the three of them together, they create a pretty crazy looking gun-shot effect that fills up the room. I would recommend the TomTop unit for anyone curious to buy one. Don't bother with the other sellers. At $25 I think it would be a cool toy to have in your bed room too.
The demo is being done in a room that measures 13 x 10 I believe. You'll probably be using these in bigger spaces, so put that into account.
I got one of the $25 green/red lasers just like this one on Ebay last year. It came from China and I can say it works pretty good for the price. I've used it on about 15 gigs and it ran non stop for at least 4hrs without any problems. I may get another just so I can get a bigger coverage for bigger rooms.
