This cop called me before the protest. I said 'no comment'. She then texted me as well. Then comes and speaks to me on the protest!

The unsolicited text read:

'Hello aran we spoke a few minutes ago please contact me should you wish to engage re the protest this evening. 07803288016. Mel barrett chief inspector.'

  • I think "engage" is a euphemism lol

  • @2wheels88 Yep I am all for rebellion but it is of no consequence to me if something is technically lawful but jail is still the consequence – in that case it matters not whether it is 'lawful rebellion' or 'unlawful rebellion'. Rebellion against repression is good whether it is against common law or statute law, whether unlawful or lawful!

  • @AranSPEAKS If you understand lawful rebellion then you also understand the government scam and should not stand for it.I know your concern with not paying something they say you have to because they could lock u up and I have never been to jail but I think as more people rebel and perhaps join organisations for rebellion then we'll start to see changes it may take a while but we did'nt get into this mess in a day,so I'm optomistic even if chances r small right now.We do out number the Gov.

  • @2wheels88 I understand the arguments regarding lawful rebellion, common law, etc. however in the real world I think they can and will enforce statute law on you no matter if you consent or not. Try not paying council tax and not complying at court not for some proceedings like people have done but all the way and keep refusing forever – I think you will find statute law enforced on you! Many of the laws the Nazis were tried under were made up after WW2.

  • @AranSPEAKS There is a big difference between Legal and Lawful one deals with legislation the other with common law the law of the land not maritime commercial law which statutes come under,They cannot enforce a statute on you unless you unwittingly consent to it.The Nazi's followed orders that were legal in Germany but under common law and the law of war were not lawful and that's why they were trialed and sentenced to death after the war, simply following an unlawful order does'nt cut it!!!

  • @2wheels88 Oh I agree it is concerning, but it can be both legal and concerning. The law has no basis in morality, what Hitler did in Germany was legal under the Nazi government implemented laws. Look up FITwatch it is a tactic used to block police cameras on protests – I totally support that. The question 'is this legal' and the question 'is this right' should never be confused. Of course it is not right for the police to film protests and yes it does go into a database used to harrass people.

  • @AranSPEAKS I don't know if that's correct, you can bet that if they are filming you protesting, you are definately going into some government data base for future rounding up.They are meant to be concerned with terrorism not citizen dissent, that is very disconcerting. When free speach is attacked in this way you are heading into a dictorship in the future. The nazi's had their brown shirts and now we have police and cctv video watching our every move.I envy u if you're not concerned,I know better!

  • @2wheels88 As far as I am aware it is legal for the police to film you, this is because they are exercising a non-specific right to film in a public place, the same right we use to film them. You are under no obligation to comply with their film of you however. As for storing your image, I believe that can be unlawful but this is on a case by case basis.

  • Has anybody found out wether it's illegal for the cops to film you? I have heard that it is because they are making a permanent record of you which should only be done after an arrest!!!! No police are welcome to answer this question I'd prefer the truth.

  • engage or intimidate?
