During the late 1960s and early 1970s, Ron West was part of a well-remembered Kansas City band, The Chesmann, with his two brothers Gary and Steve. Heavily inspired by British invasion groups, the band played both live covers and recorded original studio material.

Led by Ron West, the band's self-titled first album was released in 1977 on a label called Panama Records. Even though Panama was an independent label, the band garnered substantial airplay on American FM AOR radio stations, specifically with the track "Movin On". Missouri's first gig was opening for Firefall in Emporia, Kansas.

A second album, "Welcome Two Missouri", was released on the larger and international Polydor label in 1979, including a re-recorded version of "Movin On" minus the original intro.

Gary West was also a member of the band Shooting Star, which scored several modest AOR hits in the late 1970 and early 1980s.

  • Took forever to find this "original"release on CD, very pricy but worth every penny !!!!!!!!!!!

  • @ThePg1967 If you bought it on CD, you bought a bootleg. It's never been re-released on CD (and, after several discussions I've had with Ron West about it, I doubt it ever will be, unfortunately).

  • @ThePg1967 You are right. After carefully looking it over someone did a really good job, but it is a bootleg. I would have never guessed this to be the case, thanx for the advice and again, AWESOME video, it gives me goosebumps simply because I live here in St.Louis and some your pics can never be seen again in real life unless you lived here at the time. The one pic of the "Arena" otherwise known as the Checkerdome played MANY great concerts there, and I was fortunate enuf to be there !!!!!!!

  • @ThePg1967 Thanks. And, I spent hundreds of nights at the Old Barn, myself. =)

  • I live in St.Louis and this video is absolutely AWESOME !!!!!!!!!! It brings back SO MANY memories, your pics are AMAZING and gave me goosebumps just watching !!!!!!! Thanx for a "job well done"and the stroll down "memory lane" !!!!!!!!!

  • @ThePg1967 Wow. I'm speechless lol. Thanks for the kind words. It *was* a great tune. =)

  • on and on into the sunset / havent find the one to satisfy my soul yet righton ,

  • Thank you have not heard this in years. Great song!

  • @MsAngel352 Yep. When they did "Welcome Two Missouri", they removed the intro, and reworked the guitars with a different guitarist. Then, for "Best of", they re-added the intro, but used the second version of the song. I still like this version best. Lane Turner rocks. =)

  • @EggsZachtly thats right amigo!
