Our resort guests have spoken and wanted the next edition of the Resort Cam to feature Lucky. So here he is, Mr. Aloha himself teaching us how to make the famous Makena Beach & Golf Resort Mai Tai. On your next vacation at this Maui Resort go on over to the pool and hang out with Lucky and ask him to make you the original Makena Mai Tai (stirred), it will definitely be one of the things you will remember on your trip.
Here's the recipe:
Mai tai
squeeze lime
3oz Pineapple juice
1oz Mai Tai Mix (8oz Orange Curacao, 8oz orgeat and 8oz Rock candy mix together in a 750ml btl.)
1oz Lahaina gold rum
1oz Hana bay dark rum
mix all ingredients
Ice, cherry pineapple wedge and MAI TAI is ready to drink!
ENJOY AND HAVE A GREAT DAY!
The "mix" you refer to in the post below is just simple syrup aka rock candy mix, boiled water/sugar, I have sampled all the Mai Tai's around Maui, and the trader Vic version, and the true original Don the beachcomber's recipe........all said the pineapple version has the best flavor in my humble opinion, but there is plenty of room for all the versions, and Lucky is hands down one of the best bartenders in Hawaii and and even better person, take note he makes the "Makena Mai Tai"

wow, trader vic is rolling in his grave,...pinapple juice belongs no where near a Mai Tai and neither does a "mix" oh and,....you belong nowhere near a Hawaiian bar,..
