Eddie Garcia will look to become the all-time leading Quarter Horse rider at Los Alamitos on Thursday night when he pilots the 2-year-old filly Streakin Out from post four in the eighth race on Thursday. Garcia, who is currently tied with the great Danny Cardoza with 2,528 wins at Los Alamitos, will pilot Streakin Out for trainer Connie Hall. Garcia enjoyed one of the biggest victories in his career when he guided the Connie Hall-trained A Classic Dash to victory in the 1993 All American Futurity for owner Abigail Kawananakoa.
"To earn this record would be beyond special," said Garcia earlier this year. "I've always dreamed about being the all-time leading rider at Los Alamitos. God willing, I'll be able to break it. It's a special record and to me it means everything. I've been in racing for a long time. I've suffered my share of injuries; I've suffered some broken bones. To reach this record, that's the ultimate reward. It's the type of record that makes everything worthwhile." Garcia will come into the evening's card still mending from a recent injury. The pilot suffered a cut on his food when his scheduled mount flipped in the gates before a race on August 29. Garcia has been aboard Streakin Out before, piloting her to a seventh place finish on August 22. Streakin Out, who has only made two lifetime starts, also finished seventh in her racing debut back on July 27.

Wow, what a great trip down memory lane. I remember Eddie Garcia and Ralph Seville back in the 80's and the only time I ever won any money was when they were the jockey. WTG Eddie, you have done so well and I am sure your family and friends are very proud of your accomplishments. Count me in there too, you are a class act.
