I only hope she has the courage to kill herself in part 21. Lovelace has lost. He did not win, she was not won over. She was forced, therefore all he was trying to accomplish, he ruined!

@frostylunetta I would love that, thank you!

I don't know if I find that believable. Why would those two women be so evil that they'd hold down a woman being raped even though they have no personal grudge against her? It seems a bit excessive.

the rape scene is so cruel for my heart, i found it extremely real compliments to the actors(especially the two arpias)

rape scene is horrible, because of the womwn that can't help her from lovelce oh such horrible womwn that have a snake in their mouth and not courage in their heart

God, what a terrible actress she is!! She's had the same stupid expression all the time. Happy, sad, in love, being raped. She always looks the same...

oh my ...this is dreadfulthat anyone could think up such a story is awful enough but to have women hold her down is just vile
@missjjd The play is far more powerful in portraying Lovelace's inherent wickedness. Armitage very subtly portrays Lovelace's disregard for women and their rights over their own bodies. His soft and almost tender repetition of 'Mine! Mine!' in the rape-scene was horrifying in the extreme. In the film version, the element of horror does not simply arise from the act of rape alone but rather is compounded by the active complicity of the other women in the emotional ruin of a fellow-female.
