Mozart had an older sister called Nannerl. Child prodigy, she was introduced with her brother to all European courts. In the end of a three year family travel, she met in Versailles Louis XV's son who encouraged her to write music. But Nannerl is a girl and a girl does not have the right to compose. . .

I've just looked Mozart's sister up on google and apparently they worked together and made lots of amazing music but none of it got published simply because one of the composers (Mozart's sis) was a female. >< This was devastating. If there hadn't been sexual discrimination we could have had even more amazing music from that period than we do now.

I absolutely adored this movie. The trailer isn't great and no one should make judgements on the film based on it. It is a traumatic film and portrays the gender inequality of the time period very well. It is an original production which I would recommend to both music and romance lovers. C'est beaux!

I don't get the scene in which Le Dauphin got very upset after he commanded Nannerl kiss him. Why?

This film blew me away. While it was beautiful and tragic it seemed to explain why there are so few female composers that are widely remembered from our earth's history: the patriarchy and discrimnation of women. The Dauphin's insistence that Nanneral dress as a man to be with him publicly with her music demonstrates this along with her father's discouragement of her composing.

is there any proof of discrimination, considering that a portion of females were successful then and now. even today many females (especially in Australia) see themselves as stay at home mothers as a career only.

I know that many parents learn how to be a good parent from the first child. I think it is much more likely that the father would have just gotten better at teaching his children music and went from a great teacher to an outstanding one.

Took a trip from San Antonio well over two hours to Austin to see it. It was worth it. They don't make foreign period pieces like this anymore. I saw A separation. This movie blew it away by bounds. Also see "All the mornings of the world" if you like this movie. I promise you you won't regret it...

OK, so I am really confused. Did she sleep with the Dauphin of France, or did they just kiss?

I loved this movie! I am a real big fan of period movies.

I didn't even know there was a movie, but I knew there was a book. I actually bought it at a yard sale last week and I'm half way through it now. I really need to watch this once I finish it!
