This is a Simplified Stirling Engine #1869 that I made using a kit that was laying around. It took all of 10 mins to put together but it is a load of fun.

  • Do you know the reason why it stopped mid cycle? I have the same problem. Did you attach the piece of metal between the hinge and the balloon?

    Looks very good.

  • I think it might just be that it has to find itself in the cycle to get its rhythm and yes I put the little piece of metal in. All so I did not put the rubber band around the balloon top and because of that I was losing pusher.

  • please tell the name of the song...

    congratulations good machine...

  • The name of the song for the time being is Low Rider by War, and that you.

  • It is now Surfing The Sounds by, Musicshake. :-(

  • this worked on the same principle as the drinking bird

  • rocken sound track

  • One thing that I discovered was that by using a smaller candle and moving it about 1" away from the bottom helped the performance. I think that I had too much heat in the system initially. I will post a video that I took.

  • cool ! but watch out,the men in dark coats will come for you,as it clearly poses a threat to the oil business
