Thank you. :-) The painter was a follower of the later Pre-Raphaelites. Although they were famous for their beautiful women, Flowers and Nature were an integral part of their paintings which were also very allegorical. Look at the paintings of Fra Angelico to see the source of Pre-Raphaelitism.
