Author and Harvard professor Samantha Power spoke with Facing History students at the March 2008 Los Angeles Benefit. In this clip, Luis, a student from Garfield High School in L.A., describes how Facing History has helped him think about his choices. He asks Power about how people can find the courage to do what they think is right.

  • What a bright light!

  • Imagine... this wonderful Facing History curriculum is currently being exterminated from Garfield's classrooms with LAUSD Memo 4173 (2008) which states that we can only teach from State approved curriculum - in the English classroom, we can no longer use certain novels WITHOUT ADMINISTRATIVE APPROVAL. We can only used the McDougall Littel textbook... Awful? Disgusted? Say something about it!!! Speak up to LAUSD Administration!
