Digging a well by hand in my own backyard!

I made a well in my garden by hand: I dug in a 4 meter 50 cm diameter tube, by using dredging techniques to get the dirt/sand out and hammering to get the tube further in.

I added some annotations in English, desscribing what happens here, since I speak in Dutch ;-)

Voor de watervoorziening van mijn tuin heb ik handmatig een bron geslagen: een buis van 50 cm met gaatjes de grond in gewerkt. Het grondwater zit zo'n anderhalve meter diep; de buis is totaal 4 meter lang.

There are several hand dug wells around here. Some are very large and very deep. You have to be careful not to fall in them because you would probably never get out.
