The patience came easier after a day had passed. A full twenty-four hours was apparently what Mileys wing needed to calm down and settle. Nick hadnt left her side since the moment he was let in. He slept next to her, their bodies facing each other as the two teens slept. It was the only time he felt he was actually spending with Miley. They were both doing the same thing; sleeping, and Nick would sleep forever with Miley if thats what it took.
That morning, Joe had brought Nick his guitar, one that he thought he could use whenever he wanted it. It was a guitar with the five strings, a vintage Les Paul Gibson, the same one Miley had given Nick for his fourteenth birthday. He remembered everything about that day; what she wore, and the smile she held as she watched him open her gift. He loved it. In fact, it was one of the favorite gifts he had ever received. It was a mixture of two of his favorite things, music and Miley. Two things that had always been in his life and two things he was never letting go.
It started as a simple chord progression. The same two chords over and over again as Nick hummed along. He and Miley had always discussed the possibility of a string section to carry the song to its full potential. Maybe a cello to float against the piano and the guitar to create pretty harmonies above the fifth. Or maybe a violin to accompany Miley on her verse. Right now it was just Nick strumming the melody with his tired fingers.
He grabbed his notepad out from underneath his chair. It rested softly against the velvet lining of his guitar case and whispered against the material as he picked it up. The paper he wrote on was worn out, the way most of his music seemed to be. Eraser marks, accompanied by his own chicken scratch made this song no different than any of the rest. What did that was Mileys handwriting, lining the margins with hearts and stars. This wasnt just his song to sing.
On the paper, Nick stared, waiting for his hand to make the perfect marks. He had known all along that the song wasnt finished. Maybe it never would be. But he knew that eventually the song would end and that it was up to him to decide where. For awhile he sat still, reading over what was already written. Then he sat up, grabbed for his guitar and began to play along to the words he had only just written down. "The hardest part is speaking the words. There is something caught in my throat. I, am never letting you go"
"Ni-" On the bed, Miley stirred, her body aching to sit up. Nick ran to her, his guitar and notepad crashing down to the floor.
"Here" Nick grabbed his water bottle and handed it to Miley. She sat up and began sipping, the water coating her throat and making it easier for her to suddenly say the things she hadnt been able to while she was sleeping.
"Thank God", he whispered. Without even knowing it, he had pulled Miley into him, her lips immediately finding his. The moments seemed to slow down for them, as they ignored the need for air and continued to kiss. This is what Miley had been wanting to tell Nick while she was sleeping. It was everything she had wanted to say to him, but never could.
In his hands, Nick held Miley, her suddenly rosy cheeks content in his palms. She couldnt stop smiling and she wasnt really sure if she wanted to. It didnt matter if her head was pounding, or the fact that she was still thirsty. She could ignore the increasing hunger her stomach seemed to be alerting her of and she could close her eyes to her family and friends now standing at the doorway looking on. It made them feel weightless and invincible, like their love could save the world. And they believed it, too. This was the most alive Miley had ever felt and Nick felt it all with her. Because they could. Because they wanted to. But mostly, because it was okay and they were sorry that it had taken them a year and eighteen days to figure that out.

im here. im always here. :) oh god, the whole day i didnt feel okay. it is a crappy day. I'm tired like hell, i have 7 exams this week, so just thinking about that, make me cry. BUT THAT, this chap made my whole day, even my whole week. im so glad that Miley is awake :). im so glad that everybody knows about them now. im so glad because their love is so powerful than anything else.
