Gauthams Home-made Stirling Engine. Visit me at http://www.gauthamdileep.com . I have done this project as part of my school science exhibition. I am Gautham Dileep. I am an eight standard student studying in Veda Vyasa Vidyalayam - Malaparamba, Calicut. I got First Prize for this project. This is a Thermal Engine which uses heat as its source for running this engine. (The basic theory of this engine is that it transfers the energy movement produced by the air compression when cooled and expansion when heated to rotating axis). A Stirling engine is a heat engine that operates by cyclic compression and expansion of air or other gas, the working fluid, at different temperature levels such that there is a net conversion of heat energy to mechanical work. The bottom of the engine is heated and the top is cooled. this creates a temperature difference between the two end of the displacer.
