You can slide down your SB settings and go to processes and delete the background apps that are currently not in use and then press "free up memory" or (if you have a 4th gen. iPod touch or iPhone 4 or later) you can double press the home button and you will see the apps that are currently in the background, press and hold into one of the apps until they start to shake and you will notice that there is a red marker for you to remove the apps being used in the background allowing a smoother perf

Or just exit out of apps by using icon switcher by holding icons till they jiggle then tap the minus that will close the app but not delete it

Guys after a little research i found out that apple has requested iStat to remove free memory option from the app and just give a the break down of the system!
