This afternoon, the House passed H.R. 3639, the Expedited CARD Reform for Consumers Act to speed up the credit card reforms. This bill will move up the effective date for nearly all of the credit card reforms to December 1, 2009 and marks another step forward in bringing consumers badly-needed relief. If abusive practices by the credit card industry had not accelerated with passage of the law, there would be no need to move up the implementation date.

Chairman Barney Frank speaks out against the Republican Motion to Recommit saying, 'if this was so complicated to figure out, how do the banks manage to be able to increase so quickly? Apparently the banks have this problem--when it comes to implementing a law they're working with typewriters, when it comes to raising your rates retroactively... '

  • @KILLERBIKE1 that comment speaks volumes about your intelligence

  • Barney Frank is full of Bull@#$%@ along with Chris Dodd, Nancy Pelosi, and Charles Rangle.

    All FOOLS

  • Barney Frank has integrity. Go Barney.

  • @jsimao1: Wealthy own corporations and corporations are trying to take control of this country. It's not about government abuse of power, it's about helping people who have lost their livlihood. Gulf residents are being poisoned by the toxic dispersants! The oil industry should have gone a long time ago anyway. Destroying our air, the environment. I saw a documentary about natural gas production and the poisonous chemicals associated that never leave the air, water, and ground. Scary.

  • @judyleasugar97 I might be able to take a pill for my insanity, but there is no cure for stupidity.

  • @judyleasugar97 How do you transition from banking to oil? Oh, another big government progressive that hates corporations. The public owns corporations. How many off shore oil disasters have occurred over the 40 - 50 years? Sure BP needs to be accountable. No one is disputing that. This is more than just the environment. This is about power, control, and the destruction of our oil industry. You will sing a different tune when you are paying $8 a gallon at the pump.

  • @jsimao1: The govt should get out of the way? Get out of the way of BP destroying the coast and people's livlihoods? Get out of the way of financial institutions stealing people's retirement savings and making it impossilbe to find a job? You people are insane. Govt isn't perfect but it's a damn site better than the tender mercies of Goldman Sachs and BP!

  • Barney Frank has integrity. Go Barney!

  • Isn't this guy a poof?

  • When will the tree huggers stop using their feelings and start using their head? I think they all lack the common sense gene.
