@Cissy97 Don't know, but he is the image of my old friend Gerry from Dublin, as he was in 1974 :)

Looks like a young Carlos Kleiber, ugh?

Cannot agree with you more!
So it is a BIG loss that Paula became an attorney instead of star mezzo soprano!

The voice is VERY good, but alas, not AS GOOD as Paula Rasmussen's.
Go to Paula's performance of Serse (entire opera) and in this aria on Youtube. You will see the difference immediately.
The timbre is fuller and deeper, also rounder and may expressive.

I also like DiDonato a lot -- but prefer Rasmussen's version of this. Part of it is timbre -- Rasmussen's is still focused, but deeper and richer. While she get's the fury part right, she's also in total control. Yes this is shrieky in spots, and I don't like the ornamentation nearly as much. Rasmussen's da capo is right on the money. Breathtaking. And speaking of Graham, I'm sure she can sing this better than the one representation on YouTube. Anybody got a better one?

genius....love and enjoy are guest stars in this aria...SPINOSI :-)
-
Spinosi was so high that he almost fell off the podium. Hahaha.

JCS is the most handsome conductor on the planet. Sorry, that was irrelevant really.
-
This is just nuts!!!!! Beastly singing! Nothing better!
-
justin bieber is playing the violin behind joyce!!!! XD

I love that part around 0:36 to 0:40 where DiDonato goes slightly up and down with "aspergetemi...crude furie" and the orchestra strings do the same. Baroque music can be so passionate!
