A Cross Country Voyager arrives at Penzance at 21.40 on Tuesday 31st May 2011. This train has travelled from Aberdeen leaving there at 8.20 that morning. Is this the longest single journey a train makes in the UK?

  • Wow, pity they don't use an HST on this route!

  • Yes. The 08:20 from Aberdeen to Penzance, which takes 13 hours and 23 minutes to complete, is Britain's longest direct railway journey. Can't say that the prospect of sitting on a train for that amount of time would appeal to me!! I was ready to get off after a 5 hour 33 minute train journey from Edinburgh to London! Thanks for posting.
