these led are the future as there wavelength can be set to shine down only letting the plantation get there dark hours as they should , can be any colour , don't attract insects as there's no ultra Violet , ,give of no heat saves up to 90% electricity ,and they shine brighter , I had my led grow panel 14w shine out my top window and Illuminate my full back garden 14w :)

I like LED's taking over as it saves electricity. One day maybe the cost will come down.

led street lights have evolved and now offer uniform light that is comfortable, Kardings offers lease to own packages so municipalites do not need grant ,stimulus of money down, now there are no excuses why all towns ,cities and villages do not change to energy efficient lighting, Kardings will even subsidize the savings meaning towns will get a check issued to them to make the change,,wow

@NutsandGuts That's a subjective thing. People will get over it.

@justgivemethetruth how are those when raining or in fog conditions ?
I agree about the color temprature, they still appear too blue and this looks darker to the eye. I don't like the color and my guess is that the blue wavelength decreases the ability of the human eye to utilize the light best.

The LED Street Lights installed on are True White in a nominal Color Temperature range of 5000K. When looking at this color in comparison to the conventional High Pressure Sodium, Street Lights that are very warm/yellow in color, the LED unit does provide a stark contrast in color and one might say that it appears to have a Blue overtone.

The temp range is the basic color temp requirement for all outdoor LED lighting fixtures as required by the Design Lighting Consortium. This color temp range was chosen to emulate the same 5000K color temp that Metal Halide lights provide.

The color temp range actually provides better optical acuity for the human eye as it creates higher scotopic lumens than the 2700K HPS light that creates only photopic lumens at a much lower level. For this very same reason, you see almost all outdoor and indoor sporting venues using the 5000K color temp lights. The color appears brighter to the human eye, creates less shadow effect and provides better color rendering so we can differentiate and distinguish colors better.

Besides providing reduced energy consumption and lower maintenance costs, the 5000K True White LED units have no Ultra Violet wavelength, which means they do not attract insects in the same way that conventional HPS or MH light do.
