This was the first time I ever competed at the Grand Prix. My young (at the time) sheltie Taz gave me two beautiful runs in the semifinals and I not only found myself in the Finals, but seeded in second place! Then we also find out that Animal Planet was going to be televising the event! My run in the finals is one of the few times I can recall truly being nervous enough on a run to let it effect me. I normally re-position myself while Taz is on the table, but instead I hovered nearby and really did not properly get my bearings! Our time even with the mistake was only 2 seconds slower than the eventual winner so there's a good chance that had that not happened, we would have won. At the time I consoled myself with the thought that he was a young dog and we'd have other chances...but I was never able to successfully retrain him for faster (and still reliable) contacts and so never really came that close again.

  • Read my comments on the video...I got nervous and got lost on the course! Silly handler. ;-) Nope, you get an E for off course so he did not place.
