love how everyone talks as if the American women didn't do anything before Mary lou/84...had we not boycotted- I think we would have medalled on a few event- Rhonda Schwant was a contender on vault, Fredericks and McNamara on bars and Johnson on floor...I think Marylou/etc would have medalled in 84 with the Russians there- just not the golds- Mostapanova and Yurchenko would have battled out the AA/etc.....

When Nelli is performing in the beam and the comentator is quiet i can hear another comentator.
Shame they didn't show Shaposh's fall from grace, from the beam.

up until recently, many elite gymnasts were abused by their loser coaches who wanted to be the next bela karolyi.

Look up Kathy Johnson in Wikipedia. She was abused by her coach and now works with a group to assure that athletes have human rights, esp. for children used as athletes. I think she even testified before Congress. Will have to reread.

thats okay Kathy was a beautiful gymnast and her career was unusually long i am glad she won an olympic bronze on beam in 84, it mean't alot to her.
