Ezechiel was born in Liberia and along with his family was caught in its savage civil war. His book The Firstborn Son: a Curse, a Gift, or a Calling discusses the Bible and God's look at the importance of the firstborn son for the stability of the family, culture, and the nation. The role of the firstborn son was extremely critical for God's Old Testament Israel and the theme continued with Christ as the Firstborn of all creation. What is this role's significance in our culture today? In most instances by choice originating between husband and wife, our culture is filled with destructive statistics. Statistics like the divorce rate in the church, single mothers, fatherless children, teenage pregnancy, and more drape our children with victim mentality characteristics or traits. This book's goal is to restore an army of selfless and sacrificial men to the culture, from boys, to men, to husbands and fathers.
