His imagination was broader than any composers', unrestricted by the instruments of his time. People always debate: what's more suitable for his keyboard works, the harpsichord or the piano? Pointless debate because neither are good enough to uphold Bach's music. The synthesizers show us that Bach's music is still far from being played to perfection and satisfaction.

Did you play this piece or program it on a computer and midi it out to the synthesizers? What software & hardware synthesizers did you use? Very nice work ;-D

I think the reason Bach's music "works" on a synthesizer is that the timbre isn't built into the music. The voice leading, melodies etc. are so natural that they work with any tone quality. I think there are a lot of composers whose music wouldn't work so well when transferred to synthesizer because they "wrote the tone color" as well as writing the "notes on the page", if that makes sense.

Must agree with you. Bach is "Pure Music" - not written for any particular tonal quality or instrumentation - it's universal qualities make it amenable to endless transcription possibilities. I've always liked Bach on sythesizers because of the precision and the novelty of hearing old, beloved Bach pieces adapted to the modern era.
