Robin Hendrix sings Gerald Finzi's great masterpiece 'Fear no more the heat o' the sun', with text by William Shakespeare - Oct 2008. Michel Prezman accompanies. This song reminds us that we will all "as chimney sweepers, come to dust" - from kings and queens, physisists, saints and tyrants to the common person. In death there is no more to fear of the perils of life - cold, hunger, war, political intrigues, etc. In the end, the poet wishes us to have a peaceful repose, and that our grave be reknowned.
This was a very nice rendition of Finzi's beautiful song, that is unfortunately ignored by too many singers! Thank you both very much for this personal and convincing interpretation of this song!

There are lots of ways to sing any song, so this is just to suggest an alternative, after first saying that you have a rich, distinctive instrument and a strikingly expressive face. It seems to me that the overall arc of the text and its intention is being broken into microbits of "word painting", phrase by phrase of the song as you sing it. There's room for swells and fade-backs, but consider one arc or through-line coming out of the sense that the striving is, after all, vorbei.
