Me playing the Schlicker pipe organ and singing it in Swedish (Svenska) Words by Lina Sandell (1832-1903) a Swedish Lutheran pastor's daughter who endured much tragedy, including seeing her father drown on Lake Vattern in Sweden, and her only child died at birth in Stockholm. She never lost her child-like trust in God. She wrote over 2000 hymn texts and became the Fanny Crosby of Sweden with help from Oskar Ahnfelt's melodies, who sang them into the hearts of Swedes. The tune is a Swedish folksong, not German as some think. This hymn will make the toughest Viking tremble at the lips and weep like a baby. It is beloved by many Lutherans, Evangelical Covenenters, Methodists, and other denominations. It is considered the "Danny Boy" for Lutherans because we know God won't forsake us as his children. Enjoy!
