I spent two hours today working on the scout. I got a message from an ebay member looking at my auction that told me the points in the distributor burn up if you leave the key on as I did. So I pulled off the points and looked at them. They were in good condition if not great. I called my grandfather for some pointers. He told me to do these things: I hooked up the battery and turned the engine till the points were separated. Then I turned on the key and stuck a screwdrive in between the points. It sparked which meant the points were working. Then, I pulled the spark plug wire from distributor that came from the coil and turned the key with the plug wire near the block and it arced a nice blue color. Therefore the coil was good. I then checked the spark plugs to see if they were firing and they were. I called my grandfather again and he told me to pull the plugs out to check them. They were bad!!!! I went to Advance autos and spent $7.27 and bought 4 autolite spark plugs. I installed them and turned the key and it fired right up. The horn relay in the fuse panel did not even click as it was before when I attached the batter. The video is of me driving the scout!!!! I took it for about a 5 mile drive. This scout is solid!!!
