Bart, thanks for setting standardfrank straight. Mikel is the truth. He has not scratched the surface because he has been playing a defensive midfield role for chelsea. How many goals to DM's score? Makalele does not score more than 1 or 2 goals per season. How many did Essien score in his first season when he played defensive midfield? Mikel is on his way towards greatness.
Yeah,I've always noticed it.But you know its hard for QUANTITY Nigerian football fans to accept such constructive criticism.A few of the QUALITY fans have accepted that fact. He and Messi came out of the same tournament, but the latter has graduated his brilliance,Mikel is a replica of stagnant water, his game has not changed.Sometimes his brilliance does not show because he's not making a fool of school boys (U-20's) these days, but seasoned and experienced professionals.
Spliffveron - Thanks for your feed back. For me Mikel is tantalizing annoying to watch, especially with those unimaginative and safe pass backs he does. This guy has all the guile, power and skill factor akin to a Ferarri sports car, But he just idles along with the power of a familiy Honda Civic. I'm always waiting for him to come alive and do something magical. He just cowers back into safe mode! Annoying!
I think you're the only one who has watched Mikel with the eye of an eagle. The excuse is that he is 19,I'll remind people when he is 25.I thank God he has Kanu's ball protecting skills, and the near-Okocha passing skills.
Hey kiddo...stop using immature language to prove a point! First off...I happen to be Nigerian and if there is any one who wants to see Mikel succeed it would be me! And knowing how undisciplined the whole Naija set up is and knowing the Naija game through and through Mikel is a great midfield anchorman...but currently that's all he does.

what the fuck are you talking about....?
do you even know Mikel...?
watch the matches..
stupid...
HE-HAS-A-DEFENSIVE-ROLE
his creative mind can´t be on as high level as when he play for Nigeria and Lyn..
he scored in his last club, so stop saying he can´t score..
he scored more than 10 goals for Lyn and he was a midfielder..
don´t talk about one off the world greatest talents if you don´t know him..
nigerian or not you don´t know Mikel...
