  • This is a great beginners antenna project.

Pointers... I would have done a simple knot on both wires (stripped and soldered, then pulled back to the plastic when cooled) before passing it through the plastic, for strain relief on the solder joints. I also would have used thicker plastic (Wind, whipping trees and such).

Also consider hanging antenna vertically (center conductor lead UP) where you can. Polarization of transmit and receive antennas should match. Most CB is vertical.

  • @zaphodb777 good idea. if u use CB on ssb that is usually horizontal like on most of the HF bands. but in reality when the bands open the signal flips.

  • it realy works , thank you my friend

  • @MrTrust022 No Problem. jus google antenna calculator. it will calculate other freq.

  • very nice vid. a tip on the soldering... heat the wire and feed the solder into the wire not on the tip of the iron.

  • Made many dipoles when I was CB'ing. Beams, quads and V's. If you want to get better performance from the dipole us 75 ohm tv coax (RG6 or RG 59BU for your feed line to the CB. These are a 75 ohm coax and helps match the dipole to the 50 ohm input of a CB radio better. No need for baluns.

  • When building antennas, "Cut Long, Trim Short"

  • I have made these when I was a ham, license expired, and I also used them on 11 meters. They work well and are vary easy to make. not to mention inexpensive. An antenna tuner helps if using on multi bands.

  • @ka2gym One problem is that most CB use is mobile to mobile, unlike in the ham bands, not to mention that CB is supposed to be limited to a 250 mile radius (though we both know that radio doesn't work that way).

  • @deanotune I heard someone useing 1/4 L long transforming line and next 50 ohm cable as a feeder cable, but if i made dipol I've never used to have transformation of impedancy or baloon and it was worked good - only I used few ferrites rings on the cable.

  • this is good for 14mhz? thanks

  • You want the best it is called a beam try it stop playing with a dipole and build a beam, even if it is a wire beam it is better the a dipole

  • Thank you for posting this. It is a good way to get into antenna building.

  • @gacowboy1986 Radio Shack... They're called SO 239 connectors.

  • Does this work for cbs???

  • @DeltaKilo915 Freaking ham idiot. First off good buddy was last used in like 1977. Now it is no longer used. Not all CB ers are idiots. Ever listen to the morons on 14.275????? Oh btw, im a ham as well passed the code and theory to get General and i also talk on CB with a LEGAL CB rig.....
