Course Description:
New Jersey is burdened with thousands of properties that are, or may be, contaminated with hazardous substances and are sitting idle or underutilized. These "Brownfield" sites threaten the environment, drain the economy, create bastions for criminal activity, and are detrimental to the quality of life in our communities. Join environmental law attorney Stuart Lieberman in this program that explains the steps required in order to redevelop Brownfields into functional real property. Mr. Lieberman reviews the requirements for site remediation, the applicable laws, and the agencies that oversee the whole process. He explains how to establish and execute a successful redevelopment plan with a client (including choosing a fitting insurance policy, conducting due diligence, and applying real estate project fundamentals). The course concludes with the outlook of Brownfield redevelopment in the years to come. Attorneys who view this program will be armed with the ability to help clients through the process of redeveloping Brownfields in New Jersey.
