Here's why: even though you were trying to be a smart-ass, as a commenter, YOU and YOU ALONE have got the story completely straight from watching the trailer. "Almaden," in the film IS nothing more than a version of Alameda, but with the differences you noticed! Like, exactly! It's too bad we printed the DVD jackets before you posted, because your observation would have been a perfect synopsis!

You weren't completely accurate after all: there are African Americans in the film, and what you're probably referring to as the "Oakland drifters" aren't hipsters. Hipsters wear skinny jeans and ride fixed-wheel bicycles, and they almost always have beards. Otherwise, you're still totally spot-on!

this is so ridiculous because

1. the crime rate in alameda is basically nonexistant

2. oakland is not even that bad, it really had a bad rep because of one bad side of oakland. oakland misconceptions are so wrong

3. everyone in this white, wtf the east bay is soo diverse and its one of the most diverse areas in the country

@ATownMovie I was actually quite offended by todachannel15's comment that there are no black people in A-TOWN, considering I'm in it and last time I checked, I'm black! Perhaps it be best that people actually watch the film in question and THEN formulate there comments based on facts and not opinions. Oh and on another note, CONGRATULATIONS A-TOWN CAST AND CREW ON THE AWARD!

To all those complaining that this is about Alameda, it's not. it takes place in the FICTIONAL CITY of ALMADEN. So any more complaints about Alameda will make you look like an idiot. For those complaining about Oakland, let me tell you that this is a FICTIONAL story, as in not real. It's not reality, it's hyper-reality.
