What is GO?

GO (called WeiQi in China or Baduk in Korea) is an ancient game, with a definite history of over 3000 years.
In this game, each player tries to exert more influence on territory than her opponent, using capture or isolation. GO is getting increasingly popular around the world, with many worldwide competitions being held.

somehow... I find that hard to believe. True, there are people who understand the game better than others... but Go is not a game that you can quickly rise in rank in a mere week. I play the game myself, and I know first hand that it is not to be underestimated. If it was so simple, I highly doubt that there would be schools dedicated to a life-time of studying the game. In fact, if it were that easy, there would be no need for Go schools at all! There wouldnt even be Pro's!

like the video. as for obtaining a strong rank quickly, the fastest i have ever seen, or heard of, was 1d in 9 months. it took me a year and a half to reach 1d, I've been playing for two and a half years and am just now 2 dan. for all those of you studying to become dan, best of luck ^_^. if you are 30k-2k, i teach on KGS. user name Elmarias.
