@MrRonPaul2012 We're sorry you don't like our example. We decided to RFID enable a refrigerator because it's something everyone should be able to relate to and there are companies selling small RFID enabled refrigerators for $10,000 and up in order to track pharmaceuticals, manufacturing chemicals, and food. Using the components in our video, someone could build their own for a fraction of the cost. We also tried to add some humor because otherwise RFID can be a little dull.

Great job of demonstrating RFID technology and the different applications and components. Very informative!

When you say "how to build an RFID reader", don't you think it's a bit dishonest to be using a module? I thought this video was going to be about how to use a microcontroller, make a PCB with the correct traces, etc. This just reminds me of how people say "I built my own computer", when all they really did is assemble it from modules....

@linagee - Thank you for the honest feedback. While in the formative phases of producing this video, we considered using discrete components, then an RFID reader chip, and ultimately decided that using a module was the only option given the time constraints of a <10 minute show. Not only are the other methods more complicated, but have so many different configurations. We are in the planning phases of "How to Build a Better RFID Reader". We hope you'll enjoy our next video more.

@linagee We now have another video that talks about building and RFID reader discrete readers and reader chips on our YouTube channel called How to Build an RFID Reader Part 1
